Route Timeline & Rotation Plan
Touch down at Islamabad International Airport, where our ground coordination team greets you and provides private transportation to your hotel. Use the day to rest and recover from international travel before attending an evening group orientation covering the tour route, followed by a welcome dinner.
Depart the capital city after breakfast by private road coach along the Karakoram Highway corridor. The scenic drive heads into the northern foothills and river gorges, halting for the night in a comfortable hotel in either Naran or Chilas depending on seasonal pass openings. Distance: 461km. Duration: 8-9 hours.
Continue following the Indus and Hunza river canyons north toward Karimabad along the historic Silk Route. This road section provides spectacular vistas of high Karakoram summits right from the highway as you enter the central Hunza valley basin. Distance: 150km. Duration: 5 hours.
Spend a full day exploring Karimabad's historic cobblestone pathways and local markets. Tour the UNESCO-recognized multi-story citadels of Baltit and Altit Forts to learn about the royal dynasties of the Mirs, enjoying sweeping sunset panoramas across the terraced fields below.
Drive the winding mountain switchbacks above Karimabad to the Eagle's Nest viewpoint in Duiker. Take in a panoramic 360-degree sweep of Rakaposhi, Diran, Golden Peak, and Ladyfinger Peak, staying overnight to catch sunset reflections and sunrise color across the high snowfields.
Undertake an overland day journey up to the 4,880m crest of Khunjerab Pass on the border with China. Stop en route to explore Attabad Lake and the Hussaini suspension bridge, traveling through the high alpine habitat of Khunjerab National Park before returning south to Passu village. Duration: 4 hours.
Depart Passu for Raikot Bridge, transfer to local four-wheel-drive jeeps up the cliffside track to Tato, and complete a 3-hour foot climb through pine forests to emerge onto the sub-alpine pastures of Fairy Meadows beneath the massive Raikot Face of Nanga Parbat.
Enjoy two unhurried days relaxing in the peaceful mountain atmosphere of the meadows. Unwind by traditional log cabins, ramble through alpine pine groves, or join guided day walks to Beyal Camp and the base of the Raikot Glacier beneath the 8,126m summit pyramid.
Descend the trail back down to Tato, take jeeps to Raikot Bridge, and board your road transport for the highway drive back to Islamabad for city comforts and a warm hotel stay. Duration: 10 hours.
A built-in itinerary buffer day in the federal capital for leisure, rest, or visits to artisan bazaars and city landmarks, concluding with a celebratory farewell group dinner.
Following morning breakfast, our staff provides private transfers to Islamabad International Airport for scheduled international return flights, concluding the Hunza Valley journey.
