Fairy Meadow Tour
Overview & Mountain Character
“A classic Himalayan nature escape journeying through coniferous woodlands to the celebrated meadows fronting Nanga Parbat's towering north-western precipice.”
Situated along the western rim of the high Himalayas, this expedition takes travelers into the serene pastures of Fairy Meadows via an exciting mountain jeep track to Tato and a steady forest walk. Guests stay in local timber cabins or fully supported tent camps under the direct gaze of Nanga Parbat (8,126m). Easy day walks up through Beyal Camp bring hikers into close contact with active glacial tongues and the sheer Raikot Face. Tailored for mountain lovers, nature photographers, and travelers seeking altitude splendor without technical mountaineering, the route operates reliably between mid-spring and late autumn.

Continue the drive over the high pass of Babusar Top, enjoying sweeping vistas of alpine ridges before dropping down into Chilas on the banks of the Indus.
Drive to Raikot Bridge, switch into mountain jeeps along the canyon road to Tato, and complete a scenic 3-hour hike up through pine forests to reach Fairy Meadows beneath Nanga Parbat.
Take an easy day hike deeper into the alpine basin up to Beyal Camp, moving closer to the vast icefalls and seracs of the Raikot Glacier before returning to camp.
Hike back down to Tato, take the jeeps to Raikot Bridge, and proceed along scenic river roads into the green landscapes of Astore Valley.
Travel further up the valley to Tarishing, the picturesque village serving as the historical launch point for expeditions to the mountain's southern side.
Spend the day hiking along the foot of the immense Rupal Face—the largest vertical mountain wall in the world—before heading back down to Tarishing village for the night.
Depart Tarishing toward the alpine basin of Rama Lake, tucked inside thick pine forests with calm reflective waters and mountain vistas.
Climb by vehicle onto the sweeping grasslands of the Deosai Plateau, exploring this protected high-altitude ecosystem and observing rare flora and wildlife.
Descend from the open plateau down into Skardu, passing through dramatic transitions from alpine steppe to the rugged Karakoram canyon landscapes.
Explore regional landmarks around Skardu, including the ancient Buddhist carvings at Manthal Rock, Shangrila Lake, and the turquoise waters of Upper Kachura Lake.
Fly south to Islamabad or begin the overland drive along the Indus gorge to Chilas if mountain flights are grounded by weather.
