Shimshal Pass Trek
Overview & Mountain Character
“An expedition-style trek traversing the secluded Shimshal Valley to an alpine pass near the northern border, steeped in ancient Wakhi mountain traditions.”
Set in the far reaches of Upper Hunza, this journey explores the rugged trails of the Shimshali people, renowned for their mountain heritage. Crossing dramatic gorges, mineral-rich ravines, and high grazing pastures, the route climbs to Shimshal Pass at approximately 4,720m, where alpine lakes reflect peaks such as Manglik Sar and distant giants of the Karakoram. With minimal outside foot traffic and untouched landscapes, the Shimshal Pass trek ranks among Pakistan's most authentic cultural and wilderness mountain experiences.
