Iqbal Top K2 View Trek
Overview & Mountain Character
“An off-the-radar Karakoram ridge ascent delivering sweeping vistas of K2 from an elevated, untracked mountain viewpoint.”
First established by explorer Iqbal Qadri in 1998, the Iqbal Top trek provides an intimate vantage point over K2 away from mainstream trekking routes. The path climbs steeply across wild alpine grades and rocky ridges to reach the summit plateau of Iqbal Top. While requiring fewer days than full glacier expeditions, it poses a direct cardiovascular test due to rapid altitude gain and steep trails, making it ideal for seasoned hikers desiring clear views of K2 without entering technical crevasses.

Route Timeline & Rotation Plan
Land in Islamabad, meet our ground staff at the airport, and transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing from international travel, followed by an evening team briefing and welcome dinner at 6:00 PM.
Take the morning flight to Skardu with aerial sights of Nanga Parbat. In the event of cloud cover and flight cancellation, make the 480 km (13-14 hour) road drive to Chilas over Babusar Pass (4,173m).
Acclimatize in Skardu with a morning hike to Kharpocho Fort overlooking the Indus River. Afternoon options include browsing local craft markets or driving to Satpara Lake while permits are processed.
Drive via 4x4 along the Indus and Shyok rivers to Kanday village (2,900m). Pass through rural settlements sustained by mountain springs and glacial melt streams.
Begin the walking journey along a traditional irrigation canal, pass through the old hamlet of Daltit, and cross the suspension bridge near Khotid valley to set up camp in tents.
Ascend 45 minutes to Lawab for views of Bondit Peak and local glaciers, then trace a glacial stream to Bondit Base Camp beside traditional stone shelters.
Climb from Bondit Base Camp to the viewpoint on Iqbal Top, opening up sweeping sightlines across K2 and neighboring Karakoram giants.
Descend from the high ridge of Iqbal Top down into the pastures of the Laa Valley, taking in the mountain scenery at a steady pace.
Finish the final descent to Kanday village and transfer directly to waiting 4x4 jeeps for the drive back to Skardu.
Commence the overland return leg by following the Indus river canyon along the Karakoram Highway down to Chilas.
Complete the road journey back to Islamabad. Check into your hotel for rest and enjoy a farewell dinner with the expedition team.
Midday check-out and private transfer to Islamabad International Airport for scheduled international flights.
